  One 2 for Tuesday (Big “I” Markets’ weekly newsletter) article writer has an interesting experience:

I recently received a knock on the door from a local real estate agent. He’d had a recent sale down the block and was knocking on doors to trumpet his success, hand out flyers, and meet new clients. While we’ve often received postcards, letters, and flyers, I’ve never met an agent in the flesh going door-to-door. I closed the door thinking, “That was a first.”

Several homes on my street have been placed on the market and sold in recent months, which I’ve decided to take as a completely unofficial sign that the real estate market has improved in my neighborhood. I’ll take this Jan 16th article from REALTORMag as a much more official one. It states that according to the Mortgage Bankers Association, “Mortgage applications for home purchases soared 12.9 percent last week, reaching the highest level since April 2011.”
