Rolling into RV Sales

Join fellow agents insuring recreational vehicles with Big ‘I’ Markets.

Spring has sprung and beautiful Prevosts and Freightliners are being gassed up and hosed off, and hitting the road again for the touring season. RVs are extremely popular in the southern US, and on Big “I” a road trip to South Georgia this week, I saw hundreds of RVs headed to Florida on vacations.

One Big “I” Markets agent just bound a recreational vehicle policy on April 5 for $1,366 in premium. A few days before that, another  agent made an RV sale on April 1 for $1,589 in premium. Will you be next?

As a Big “I” Markets agent, you can access RV coverage for both personal and commercial vehicles.

National Interstate Insurance Company offers property-casualty insurance for motor homes, bus conversions, travel trailers and medium-duty tow vehicles. The policies have been designed specifically to meet the needs of RV owners.

National Interstate’s claims professionals handle RV claims exclusively while product management continually looks for ways to enhance customer benefits. Today, more than 74,000 RV owners in 42 states are covered by National Interstate RV Insurance programs.

National Interstate provides coverage for motor homes, bus conversions, medium-duty tow vehicles and converted medium-duty tow vehicles with a value up to $1.5 million; and travel trailers and fifth wheels with a value of up to $150,000.

For more information on covered recreation vehicle types, including eligibility requirements for all categories, please see the Recreation Vehicle Categories Supplement in the Product Resources section on Big “I” Markets.

All policy terms are annual unless specifically approved by the company. National Interstate does not impose minimum or maximum limits on the age of the primary driver.

Commercial usage of recreational vehicles may be acceptable, with the exception of those rented or leased to others.

Log in to Big “I” Markets and select Recreational Vehicles from either the personal or commercial product menus for more information.

How to Market to the Connected Generation

If you are looking for ways to use social media to build relationships, demonstrate your value to to your clients, and generate new business then I’d like to share the latest Agents Council for Technology story on the topic, “Marketing to the Connected Generation.”

The article, by Ryan Hanley of Albany, N.Y.-based agency The Murray Group, has achieved great success using social media and other digital tools. He focuses on consistently delivering meaningful content that demonstrates the value his agency provides to clients and his community, as a mentor and guide in the insurance buying process and after the sale is made. He urges agents to get over their fear of using social media, because it is not difficult to learn and use, and because it represents a huge opportunity for agencies to employ to level the playing field with the direct writers.

Each month, ACT releases a new article on a technology-related topic, such as data security and workflow efficiency. Visit the ACT website to access stories, recorded webinars and other resources useful for agents.

Disability Insurance Awareness Month

Use resources available to you on the State Marketing Activity Center.

May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month, a campaign dedicated to educating consumers about the need for disability insurance. It is an industry-wide effort coordinated by the LIFE Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping consumers make smart insurance decisions.

Big “I” Employee Benefits is promoting the campaign throughout the month in IN&V and on the Big “I” website and through social media.

Replicate these efforts in your own publications or supplement them with materials available to you on the Big “I” Employee Benefits/Retirement section of the State Marketing Activity Center. Materials include:

Most items are brief and can be used as short newsletter articles, e-blasts, added to your Facebook page or used in a print publication with an ad. Post the Facebook graphics as photos, which will appear on your association’s timeline. Sprinkle the Twitter posts throughout your feed in May.
For more information on promoting the Big “I” short-term and long-term disability insurance capabilities to member agencies, contact Christine Muñoz.
